Phillip Baltz at The Yard Bryant Park

Philip Baltz's paintings focus on the present. Balancing monochrome and color, they suggest vistas and abstracted typographies. By carefully layering acrylics, oils, natural elements, and epoxy resin, Baltz's paintings draw together striking fields of color, complex textures, and hints of abstracted landscapes. His experiments with composition and consistency make for a truly singular series of works.

Baltz works out of a Gowanus studio and a converted shed in North Sea, Long Island. He began painting after visiting the central coast of Vietnam in 2013. His work is held in a number of private collections.
