This show embraces the power of sculpture to re-define space. Using natural, vernacular, and experimental materials, these artists investigate abstraction, materiality, figuration, drawing connections between space, geometric forms, and political critique. Works range from surreal re-imaginings of the body, to post-minimalism.

ABOUT THE JUROR:

John Hatfield is the Executive Director of Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, New York. Previous to Socrates Sculpture Park, he worked for seventeen years in various capacities at the New Museum, four years as Deputy Director. Hatfield served as Assistant Vice President for Memorial, Cultural and Civic Programs at the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation managing the September 11th memorial design competition, selection process and cultural site planning. He has served on many panels, juries, curated exhibitions and lectured on art in the public realm.
